Inspiration: Miss Peggy Lee

Sophistication, glamour, class, style, an amazing voice and fantastic eyebrows - Peggy Lee had it all and more! I am currently in total adoration of her. Her style is fantastic, let alone her incredibly sultry singing voice and classic beauty! I love the beautiful 40's and 50's fashion she wore, especially the beaded dress in the first photo and the adorable circle skirt in the second photo. Her always immaculate blonde curls keep my daydream of being blonde well and truly alive. This woman is truly inspiring.

A video of Peggy performing 'Why Don't You Do Right' in 1950:
(the way she sings is truly worth watching, she is captivating)

I myself love jazz and she is a massive inspiration to me as a singer. If only I looked immaculate and waltzed around in beautiful 1950's gowns all the time like her!

Happy Valentine's Day to all of our readers!

(PS. Peggy could definitely be my Valentine!)

St. Rupertsberg

St. Rupertsberg are an all-girl octet from Wellington who make music that's endlessly appealing- lyrics that are mythical without too much whimsy, unwavering vocal harmonies, and an impeccable brass section. They combine everything I love in one cute package with their music, and I feel very lucky to have seen them play a couple of times. I seriously cannot get enough of their recently-released Seasonal Glimpse EP, and it's become my theme song for riding my bike around in the wonderful Spring weather we've been having lately.

The Bandcamp flash player isn't working at the moment, so here's a download link to my favourite track off the EP, I'm So Fucking Goddamn Lonely. To buy the whole thing for a miniscule price, which I suggest you do, go here!

various niceties

As you may have already heard, me and my band, 5th Day of May got the amazing opportunity to open for Imogen Heap along with a wonderful collective of Lyttelton musicians aptly named Harbour Union.
It was a fantastic, wonderful night and I was lucky enough to chat and sing and sneak a photo with the lovely Imogen:

Playing a song I wrote:

Apart from singing in front of sold out crowds, I've spent the holidays in the sun and rain with Adam, my family and my cats.

METAMORPHOSIS

As a child and preteen, I, like most other girls my age, had a very strong love for Hilary Duff! She was my inspiration for a large part of my childhood, so this evening I decided to pay homage to my former idol and record this cover of one of her songs. This song was from her very first album, Metamorphosis, and I listened to it religiously!

At the age of about nine she became my style icon, and the outfits she wore on Lizzie McGuire were fantastic back then (unfortunately, terrible now).

I'm a sucker for cheesy popstars!

TWEENIE POP GIGGLE CHOIR

Me (Christie) and many other classmates (as a crazy choir-type-thing) recorded two new pop covers today, Tik Tok and Bad Romance! They are terrible and awesome, check it out!

(also if you can't get enough of our sweet cheesy vocals you can DOWNLOAD and listen 24/7!)
