Halcyon

Usually I'd avoid this length of skirt, as I am a mere 5'1.5" (every half inch counts!), but when I saw this one at a thrift store earlier in the week I snapped it up very quickly. Our house has now been 17 days without water, and showering at friends' houses on a rotational basis doesn't really lend itself to luxuries like shaving one's legs. I'm rather warming to it, and my brother/photographer agrees that it fits nicely into my 'granny aesthetic'. I also thrifted the most amazing dress ever, which I will show you later in the week!

(Wearing a thrifted skirt, my boyfriend's favourite tshirt (sorry Logan), vintage necklace from him, and shoes from Chinatown in Sydney)

  1. I love the print. I'm short like you but I wear skirts that length all the time.
You poor thing. Being without water is horrible. Did you get your water back and then lose it again?
I can't wait to see this amazing dress you thrifted.

  2. Yeah, it was ok after the earthquake then went off then came back on it and was full of mud and sticks and stuff! Then it just gradually dwindled down to a trickle... we are at the stage where we can fill the kettle but it takes 15 minutes! It's certainly not the end of the world but it is rather annoying when you have hair down to your waist and no way to wash it!
I think you'll rather like the dress.

  4. that skirt looks great on you! i'm probably around the same height and it freaks me out to wear skirts below my knees, but i love the silhouette and i'm interested in trying!
also, shaving is overrated. but i do hope you get your water back!

  5. I usually can't wear skirts of that length either (5'3.5!) but you are convincing me like no other. I'm also madly in love with your vintage necklace!
